Between the tournaments it was time to have some fun in Vegas! As music is my passion it natural to check out the local metal scene. As it happens I met this radio dj who had just found our band and had already played us in her show. She complained that the metal scene in Vegas was quite poor and the best week in 10 years had been when there was Nightwish, Firewind and Apocalyptica gigs recently. 2 of those bands are from Finland. We went to see Trouble with 2 local warm up bands. Trouble was very convincing but when I saw the local metal heroes I understood exactly what she meant (its their singer in the pic). There wasnt too many people either. Vegas has many awesome concert places like The Joint in Hard Rock Hotel or the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay but there are surprisingly few good gigs and most of them are 80`s music. When I first was in Vegas I had to settle for Billy Idol (and this time for Trouble).
Luckily there is alot of other kind of entertainment in Vegas of which Cirque du Soleil is my personal favourite. There is also wonderfull music in their performances and Beatles Love in the Mirage is a must for any Beatles fan. All their shows are great but O in the Bellagio just blows my mind every time. Its out of this world and the best show I have ever seen. I ve seen it 3 times now and I look forward to seeing it again. I also went to see David Copperfield and it was fun seeing those illusions up close. Some of them are so amazing you think he bends the laws of physics, but often there are really simple explanations (same with Chris Angel). I just had to dig something up and find out, (nope not telling you) sometimes its good to leave the sense of wonder and just be entertained.
Among all the other fun stuff I rented a Corvette for a few days and went to see the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon. I got perhaps a bit too exited about the brand new 436hp beauty, I got into a showoff with Dodge Viper when we were starting from the traffic lights and then I was "mildly speeding" on an empty desert road. I later heard from the locals that you can go to jail for driving over 100 miles per hour. Luckily I avoided the bad beat. I recommend obeying the laws, especially when travelling because the consequenses might be surprising.
On the negative side, it was just damn hot in Vegas, I heard that the hottest place on earth is just miles from here, in the Death Valley. We saw a thermometer on the Hoover Dam that showed 119.3 fahrenheit in the shadow. Its 48 degrees celcius, you cant be in that kind of heat for very long and without a hat you`re guaranteed to get a sunstroke. We were supposed to go to this helicopter tour of the Dam and Lake Mead but they were closed "due to exessive heat". The timing for WSOP is very poor, the summer in Finland is great and its not too long . Its also the midsummer in Nevada and Vegas heat is not good for a man who dresses in black.

Keep on rockin' Viktor. We all love ya!!!!
